Sam Hill
Sam Hill is an Arizona criminal defense attorney and the founder of Hill Defense PLLC. He represents individuals facing criminal charges throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and across Arizona, with a practice focused on providing aggressive, practical, and individualized defense.

Sam began his legal career gaining courtroom experience on both sides of the criminal justice system. While attending the Ole Miss Law, he worked with the Orleans Public Defenders in New Orleans and later served with the Tenth Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Colorado, where he prosecuted criminal cases under a student practice certification. That experience gave him an early understanding of how prosecutors evaluate cases, prepare witnesses, negotiate plea agreements, and present evidence at trial.

After graduating from law school, Sam returned to Arizona and continued developing his criminal defense practice. He worked with Nesci & St. Louis in Tucson before joining the Pima County Public Defender’s Office, where he represented clients facing criminal charges and gained substantial experience handling cases in a high-volume courtroom environment.

Sam later joined Belen Law Firm in Phoenix, where his practice focused exclusively on criminal defense. He has represented clients in courts throughout Maricopa, Pinal, Yavapai, and Mohave Counties in matters ranging from misdemeanor offenses to serious felony prosecutions. His experience includes contested hearings, probation violations, plea negotiations, sentencing advocacy, Rule 11 competency proceedings, witness interviews, and jury trials. He has also obtained a not-guilty verdict for a client following a jury trial.

Sam founded Hill Defense PLLC with the belief that people accused of crimes deserve an attorney who will personally learn their case, challenge the government's evidence, and give them straightforward advice about their options. He approaches every case with the understanding that a criminal charge can affect far more than a courtroom outcome—it can impact a person's career, family, reputation, freedom, and future.
Sam earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law and his B.A. in English from the University of Wyoming. He is admitted to practice law in Arizona.

Outside the courtroom, Sam enjoys motorcycles, mountain biking, running, fishing, cross fit, and spending time outdoors in Arizona.
